About Absolute CAD

The company was founded in 2003 by the technical director Mike Watson, having been trained by the BBC in 1988. After seven years Mike left the BBC where he was a senior engineer in News& Current affairs to become an engineer at TSI Post Production where he soon became the chief engineer, running the engineering department.

In 2001, whilst mike was recovering from Malaria, he dreamt up a company idea to design and install broadcast systems.

20 years later Absolute CAD is still a small company with a passion for providing excellent design and installation services. The added bonus is having an experienced project manager to ensure that all projects are given the correct timeline and budget, giving client peace of mind on every project.

I wanted a memorable name for the company, so I thought it would be fun to create a play on words combining CAD (Computer-Aided Design) with the 1950s term "cad," meaning a bounder. This tied in beautifully with my admiration for the biggest cad of them all Terry-Thomas. The idea developed further when my father, a cartoonist, came up with a caricature logo based on the most famous film rogue. Every document we issue has this figure proudly standing in the corner of the page, saying “what an absolute CAD!”
